The Last Chapter

Immigrants growing old far from their countries of origin face crucial questions: Who am I? Where do I belong? Where and how do I want to spend the last chapter of my life?

JAA

The Last Chapter introduces us to three elderly immigrants: Justine, a retired pharmacist from Uganda; Sisto, a refugee from South Sudan; and Ben Allal, a Moroccan artist, all of whom have lived most of their adult lives in Finland. With age, their lives are disrupted by illness, loneliness, and the fading of memories of their old homeland. But life goes on, and all three are sustained by their will to live. Their stories shine a light on the challenges that all ageing immigrants must face, their emotional and practical struggles arising from growing old far away from their roots
