The Elephant in the Room

A story about black courage and determination

“The Elephant in the Room” documentary film is an honest account of a 59-year-old educated Nigerian lady who wants to make a difference in Finnish society.

After 34 years in Finland she is now ready to open the door to her Nigerian community and to face the elephant in the room. The film deals with integration, a social taboo and an emotionally charged issue that everybody knows but does not want to acknowledge and act upon.

This is a story about inclusion, marginalisation, lost identity, rejected reality and the everyday sorrows and joys of Nigerian immigrants in Finnish society. It is also a story about free education, healing forests and a black lady on skis.
