Kabul Music School

In the Afghanistan National Institute of Music, every child chooses an instrument he or she wants to learn to play. Music heals the wounds of war.

Half of the students of the Music School are orphans or otherwise disadvantaged, half are selected on the basis of a test. Mr Ahmad Sarmast, the director of the school, dreams of founding the first Afghan symphony orchestra, the core of which will be former students of the institute. The video is in dari and the subtitles in Finnish. Created by Kirsi Mattila, Icebreaker Productions 2012.
